Congratulations to Susanne Parker, a student at Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., our winner for the 2009 Sylvia K. Burack Scholarship Award!
The 2009 competition asked students to write an essay on something they felt passionate about. Parker chose to write about swing dancing, and we're pleased to present her essay in the January 2010 issue of The Writer as well as here in the PDF file above. We hope you'll enjoy reading her essay.
The Burack Scholarship Award is a writing contest for full-time college students in the U.S. and Canada. The award is made in memory of Sylvia K. Burack, a longtime editor-in-chief and publisher of The Writer, who was known for her dedication to helping writers and editors. |
