Writing prompt No. 29

A weekly writing exercise to get you started

By Jill Dearman
Published: January 13, 2012
Put five of your characters in the woods or on a snowy mountain range, and imagine them lost. Who would take charge? Who would crack up? Show us over a period of 24 hours how they manage to get by under such extreme circumstances. Which character do you relate to the least? When you go back to your “real writing,” aim to develop that character in a more nuanced way.
