What do you or your character consider a luxury? A day at the spa? Box tickets for a game? Feeling safe? A snow day home from school? One more day? What obstacles keep you or your character from enjoying this luxury?

Heather Wright's work has been published in local and national publications and on the Web. Her column “Write Angles,” published in What If? Canada’s Creative Magazine for Teens, became the basis of her book, Writing Fiction: A Hands-On Guide for Teens.

Darlene, my wife, whispers into my ear sweat somthings as we drink some wine. There are giggles and we kiss and hold each other. The smell of her drives me insane. we are in the middle of a field of tall grass, laying back on a blanket. We share what we see in the clouds, the the alarm goes off waking me for another day of work.

My character considers a luxury on the days of warmth and sunshine.

Then you can take a ride to the a park that is at least two miles long. On that journey, endure the long trees that seem to reach into the unlimited sky.

Smell the leaves, as they burst into new growth. Feel the air, as it sounds you with new birth of life and the luxury to enjoy it. Escaping from the chaos that surrounds you.
