Alex Michaelides’ debut novel The Silent Patient earned the fourth spot on our best-selling novels of 2019 list, and it looks like those sales carried over into the Goodreads Reading Challenge as well. And the numbers are no surprise: Published in February, it’s already being touted as the thriller of the year. “The Silent Patient may be a first novel, but it has the pace and finesse of a master,” writes the BBC.
