The plot to Julia Phillips’ upcoming novel centers on two young sisters who vanish on the shore of the Russian Kamchatka peninsula. Disappearing Earth is Phillips’ debut, though her other work has appeared in Glimmer Train, Slate, and The Atlantic. Receiving starred reviews from multiple publications, the book is a mainstay on anticipated book lists this spring. Kirkus writes that Phillips’ debut is “an unusual, cleverly constructed thriller, and also a deep dive into the culture of Russia’s remote Kamchatka peninsula.”
