Scholastic cancels book by Tim Tingle

Doc and the Detective by Tim Tingle has a cover that features a silhouetted boy on a bicycle riding in a graveyard at night.

Tim Tingle’s planned middle-grade book will not be published by Scholastic, the publisher said.

“Our relationship with Mr. Tingle has ended and we will no longer be publishing Doc and the Detective,” Scholastic confirmed.

The publisher’s statement comes after Tingle was accused of inappropriate behavior by booksellers Annie Carl and Alicia Michielli, who said the author touched their hands and knees and patted their heads at a Scholastic event. Publishers Weekly has the full story.
