The Writer won a 2019 Folio: Ozzie award for Feature Design for “When Writing Gets Us in Trouble,” a feature story from our April 2019 issue. Graphic designer Jaron Cote was responsible for the article’s winning design, which earned a nomination and ultimate win in the “Consumer, Under 100,000” category.

The award was announced at Folio’s award ceremony in New York last week. The Writer‘s sister publication, JazzTimes, earned an honorable mention in the same category.

This marks Jaron’s second nomination and first win for a Folio: Ozzie award. He was previously nominated for a 2018 award for his design for our June 2017 feature story “Take a Writing Vacation.”

“It’s always exciting to see designer Jaron Cote devote his talents to creating outstanding designs for The Writer each month – and it is a huge joy to see his work get recognized with a much-deserved win!” says Carolyn Marsden, Art Director at Madavor Media.
