Description

Since 1972, the Santa Barbara Writers Conference has been connecting writers with mentors, agents and editors. Every summer, writers in many genres from around the world gather to participate in a week focused on story, voice, craft, marketing and networking. This year’s evening speakers include Mona Simpson, Anthony Breznican, Danny Bland, Meg Gardiner and Tawni O’Dell. Tickets to evening speakers are $10 at the door.

Advance Submission is your chance to separate yourself from the thousands of other single-space, one-page letters agents receive each year. Though SBWC has had many success stories in the past, we make no promises of representation, nor further interest in your manuscript. We do, however, hope this is a rewarding and enlightening experience, and at the very least, an opportunity to make a personal and professional connection.

You must be registered for the conference to participate. Submission fee is $40 per agent/editor (mail in the first five pages of your manuscript only). Be sure to allow for transit time as the deadline for pages to be received is May 2. If you have chosen multiple readers, you will include a copy for each reader, as well as an additional copy for the conference. For example: if you have chosen three readers, you will mail four copies of your manuscript.
