THE PRIZE: The winning author in each category shall receive a publishing contract for a book of poetry, short stories, or essays by Adelaide Books (http://adelaidebooks.org) and a free copy of the Adelaide Awards Anthology 2018.
The WINNERS will be featured in the interview section of the Adelaide Literary Magazine October 2018 Edition and will be nominated by Adelaide Literary Magazine for a 2019 Pushcart Prize.
Five SHORTLIST WINNER NOMINEES in each category will be announced, recognized, and featured in the respective sections (fiction, nonfiction, and poetry) of the Adelaide Literary Magazine October 2018 Edition. Each shortlist winner nominee shall receive a free copy of the Adelaide Literary Awards Anthology 2018 and will be considered for a book publishing contract.
Up to thirty-three FINALISTS in each category will be announced, recognized, and their selected works will be published in the Adelaide Literary Awards Anthology 2018.

CATEGORIES: Adelaide Poetry Award 2018
Adelaide Short Story Award 2018
Adelaide Essay Award 2018
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all English, Portuguese, or Spanish language authors (of any age, ethnicity, gender or orientation) for the best poem, short story, and creative nonfiction essay.
Allowed length of a SINGLE submission:
– for the best poem – up to five poems (in one Word document no longer than five pages single-spaced)
– for the best short story – one to three short stories (together no longer than 4000 words)
– for the best essay – one to three essays (together no longer than 4000 words)
Word documents ONLY. By submitting, all authors attest that the work is their own.
The number of submissions from the same author is NOT limited. Each additional submission will be charged $20. You can submit poems, short stories, and essays that have been previously published.

The author’s name should not appear in the attached manuscript, just the title(s). Be sure to include your name and the title(s) of the work(s) in your email when submitting, together with your mailing address.
JUDGES: Poetry, Fiction, and Nonfiction Editors of the Adelaide Literary Magazine, together with their editorial staff will select up to thirty-three nominees and five shortlist finalists in each respective category. Stevan V. Nikolic, editor-in-chief of the Adelaide Literary Magazine will be the final judge of the prize-winning works.
The winners will be announced on September 30, 2018. Adelaide Literary Awards Anthology 2018 with thirty-three best works from each category will be released on October 21, in paperback and e-book format.
After receiving your submission, we will send you a confirmation email with the PayPal invoice for the secure payment of the entry fee online. If we do not receive your payment, your submission will not be considered.
All sales are final. There are no refunds. Only appropriate submissions will be eligible to enter the contest. Adelaide Literary Magazine, therefore, reserves the right to refuse any material for any reason.
