The 2022 Bethlehem Writers Roundtable Short Story Award seeks original, unpublished stories of 2000 words or fewer on the theme “An Element of Mystery,” broadly interpreted. First place winner will receive $250 and be considered for publication in our upcoming print anthology, AN ELEMENT OF MYSTERY: SWEET, FUNNY, AND STRANGE TALES OF INTRIGUE to be published in late 2022. Second and Third Place winners will receive $100 and $50 respectively and an offer of publication in Bethlehem Writers Roundtable, the online quarterly literary magazine of the Bethlehem Writers Group, LLC.
Preliminary blind judging will be performed by members of the Bethlehem Writers Group. Final blind selection of winners will be by our Guest Judge Kate Carlisle, New York Times bestselling author of two ongoing mystery series: The Bibliophile Mysteries and Fixer-Upper Mysteries (the latter of which has been adapted by Hallmark Movies & Mysteries).
This is the eleventh annual Short Story Award competition. The anthologies in our “Sweet, Funny, and Strange” series have won or placed as finalists for many international awards. For more information, please see our website.
