Description
The first Montana Screenwriting Competition is eager to find narrative screenplays that demonstrate the exceptional talents and skills of Montana writers &/or highlight the special qualities of Montana locations. Competition coordinator Barbara Schiffman, a former Hollywood script consultant and creative producer, and Bigfork Independent Film Festival’s founder/director Stephen Shapero seek to help Montana writers, filmmakers and movie enthusiasts appreciate screenwriting as a literary art in addition to being the first step in the filmmaking process.
This Montana-focused writing competition accepts ONLY narrative Feature and Short Film screenplays (no documentary film scripts, teleplays or stageplays). Screenplays will be reviewed by a judging panel of Montana-based writing professors, Hollywood screenwriting consultants, writer-directors, filmmakers, and other industry experts. All finalists will be named and honored on the BIFF website in addition to receiving other cool award perks. One screenplay will be chosen as the “Best of BIFF 2020” and receive a Live Table Reading as part of the 4th annual BIFF weekend (April 3-5, 2020), held in scenic Bigfork MT, plus other cool perks and kudos.
