Our popular contests continue with a new flower prompt and haiku each month. Hone your writing skills by writing a story of 350 words or less, inspired by our artistic, beautiful prompts. We believe that writing and reading stories that celebrate courage, strength and caring can help us get through these challenging times. Our members seem to agree. Our newest member from Stratford-upon-Avon, UK, writes: “Stay true to your glorious mission. You’re doing a great job.”

Our prompt this month is the glorious, show-stopping Azalea.

Azaleas are content to remain in the background for months, but when it’s their blooming time, they take front and center stage. Perhaps our azalea picture and haiku will inspire you to create your own unforgettable characters or stories. We hope you will enjoy exploring the colorful world of springtime azaleas!

Be inspired by over 380 shortlisted stories from the past year of contests. Visit our Winners’ Pages. Create your own masterpiece, inspired by the Azalea. You’ll be in good company on, where we are writing a better world, one flower at a time.

Our judge for this contest will be Dr. David Ross, Oxford scholar and Professor of Comparative Literature, who will select the Grand Prize Winner and the list of Finalists. He will also provide commentary on stories which receive Finalist Honors. We always look forward to Dr. Ross’s comments, which are often literary masterpieces in themselves! There will be a public voting component to select three other winners, so there are two paths to winning!

Prizes include: $100 for Grand Prize, $25 for Public Voting 1st place, and a variety of publication venues. All shortlisted stories will be published on line, and will be eligible for inclusion in our series of Kindle books. Top winners get their own permanent Winners Page, which features all their winning stories, past, present and future.

Join our club, and become part of a talented, creative community of great writers!
