Description
SLO (San Luis Obispo) NightWriters’ theme for its annual Golden Quill Contest is “Liberation” which can be broadly interpreted. . Categories: Poetry up 40 lines; Short Fiction up to 1500 words; Creative Non-fiction (personal essay, memoir) up to 1500 words.. Judging
The Judging Panel boasts old and new judges this year who come to the contest with an impressive array of credentials from best-selling and award-winning authors, to editors and publishers, to professors, to writing and workshop teachers.
Judging is blind and based on criteria in five categories. This includes use of theme, plot and story, use of language, emotional impact and the narrative voice and content. All criteria are detailed on the contest Webpage at SLONightwritersGoldenQuill.blogspot.com.
