Each month, one winner will win $100 and move on to be a finalist. Of the three finalists, one will win the grand prize.
The grand prize is the winner's choice of $4,000 in cash or a Ford F-150 pickup truck, their work published in a NY newspaper and a plaque with their winning essay on it.
The contest entrants must write an original work on how they have overcome adversity or how someone they know has overcome adversity. The work must be between 240-400 words in length. These works will be judged by four judges: Donna Thompson, Fila Antwine, Joseph Warren and Jeff Brandes – all published authors.
