Contest Writing Prompt:
Like life itself, every tale told is a mystery because we never know where the story will lead. Whether a romance, an adventure, or a whodunnit, every good narrative holds secrets and unexpected twists. And now is your chance to unlock the mysteries that lie behind the door of your own imagination.
While on a holiday visit, you are stuck inside your grandmother’s old house during a gray, rainy afternoon. Out of boredom, you decide to explore the attic where you find an old, dust-covered trunk. In 1,000 words or less, write about what you find in the trunk and the secrets it holds. Your story can take the form of a fantasy, a science-fiction tale, a sentimental romance, or a traditional mystery. You are only limited by your imagination.
