The Minute Poem is a poem that follows the “8,4,4,4” syllable count structure. It usually has 3 stanzas that have the same syllable count. So: 8,4,4,4; 8,4,4,4; 8,4,4,4 syllables.

It usually has 12 lines total (so 60 syllables). It is also normally written in a strict iambic meter but for this contest the rhyme scheme you choose is optional. But if must rhyme. If following iambic meter that would make the rhyme “aabb, ccdd, eeff”.

But for this contest you can choose a rhyme that you feel best works with your poem.
