$30.00 reading fee per manuscript
The winning collection will receive $1,000 prize money, publication of the collection, 100 copies of the book, and distribution with our other titles.
This is a brand new contest from Bauhan Publishing. The prize will be awarded for a book-length collection (120-160 pages or 50,000-60,000 words) of nonfiction essays. The essays can take any form: personal essays, memoir in essay form, narrative nonfiction, commentary, travel, historical account etc. The essays must NOT have been previously published as a collection. This year’s judge will be Alice B. Fogel, NH Poet Laureate and award-winning author, poet, and teacher. All manuscripts go directly to the judge, we do not pre-screen.
We accept online and print submissions. Our Submittable page for online submissions is: https://bauhanpublishing.submittable.com/submit or visit our contest webpage for guidelines and instructions on how to submit a print manuscript.
