Entry Fees
$7.00 per individual submission - If the submission fee is a barrier to your participation in the Awards, we will waive the fee when you submit a Fee Waiver Form.
Teens in grades 7–12 (ages 13 and up) can apply in 28 categories of art and writing.
Prizes
- $1,000 national scholarship (6 Awards available)
- $500 state scholarship (2 Awards available for each of the following states: Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, and New Mexico)
Description
The National New York Life Award offers $1,000 scholarships to six students whose works explore personal grief, loss, and bereavement. State scholarships of $500 are available to two students from each of the following states: Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, and New Mexico. To apply, submit your work to any category in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. At the end of your application, opt in to the New York Life Award. You will be prompted to include a personal statement on your work.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. Submissions for the 2021 Scholastic Awards open on September 1, 2020.
