Description

“NEXT: Visions Towards a Less Divided America” will be a Pangyrus book publication, due to come out in 2022. We’re looking for your best essays taking on the problems of today, and the potential of tomorrow. Whether lyric, braided, journalistic or flash, the strongest essays will find their way into publication, and the contest winner earns both publication and a prize of $1,000.

With so much in our lives changing, we’re wondering… what’s NEXT? How will we eat, travel, gather, care for our families, and educate our children? Politics are shifting. Priorities are shifting. Our earth is shifting.
The Pangyrus Nonfiction Writing Contest is an opportunity for writers to look ahead and tell us what matters– what’s at risk, what may be lost forever, and what we stand to gain.

Please submit your best essays, either hopeful or despairing. The winner– chosen by our guest judge, Jabari Asim–earns $1,000 and publication in a 2022 essay collection.
