We will shortlist up to ten stories to receive:

- A USD 100 shortlist prize
- A one-year digital subscription to Scientific American
- A personalised certificate

From the shortlist, our judges will decide
- First Prize: USD 1500 & an engraved trophy
- Runner Up: USD 1000 & an engraved trophy

The public will decide the People's Choice award by online vote on the shortlist:
- People’s Choice: USD 500 & an engraved trophy


In the quantum world, objects really can exist in a superposition. Tease a story from the possibilities to enter the Quantum Shorts flash fiction competition. The competition is run by the Centre for Quantum Technologies in Singapore with international media and scientific partners. The competition is accepting entries until 16 December 2021. Entries must be no longer than 1000 words and include the phrase “it’s a lot to think about”. Do not think for too long – enter by the deadline for a chance to win prizes!
