TWFest Very Short Fiction Writing Contest

Entry Fees



One (1) Grand Prize: $500 USD; a VIP Festival Pass ($600 value) to the 2021 Festival in New Orleans; a public reading at a literary panel at the 2021 Festival; Publication in New Orleans Review Web Features.

Finalists receive: a panel pass ($100 value) to the 2021 Festival, and their names published on the TWFest website, e-newsletter, and social media pages.


The 35th Annual Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival is seeking submissions of original, unpublished short fiction for our 2020-2021 Very Short Fiction Writing Contest. This contest is open to U.S. and international submissions from emerging writers. Each submission should include one (1) original short story, written in English, up to 1,000 words.
