Description

Aurora Metro Arts and Media, the Twickenham-based arts organization, is delighted to announce the fourth Virginia Prize competition for the best new fiction by a woman writing in English.

The Prize
In 2009, to celebrate 20 years of success as a small independent publishing house based in Richmond upon Thames, Aurora Metro launched a new competition to encourage and promote new writing by women. Heartened by the quality and depth of the response to this and subsequent competitions, Aurora Metro is pleased to announce the fourth Virginia Prize for Fiction in 2015.

Virginia Woolf completed and published her first novel The Voyage Out while living in Paradise Road in Richmond where she and her husband Leonard also founded the Hogarth Press in 1917. By naming this prize in Virginia Woolf’s memory, we celebrate her significant literary contribution and her inspiration to young writers.

The prize is open to any woman, including non-UK residents, over 18 years of age, writing in English. The winner will receive £1,000 as well as a conditional offer of publication by Aurora Metro Press. Closing date 31 October 2015.
