Description
ELIGIBILITY: This is an open call for writers who write young adult fiction. Your story must be for a young adult audience, defined here as a work for a readership between the ages of 12 to 18. The protagonist, story theme and POV should be within the same age range. You must be the owner of the book rights. Your work cannot be previously published by a traditional publisher even if it is out of print. Works that are self-published are acceptable.
SUBMISSIONS: There is a limit of one entry per person and e-mail address throughout the contest period. Free registration is open from November 22 to December 31, 2015. All submissions must be original and in English. All entrants must use the AUTHORS.me submission platform that follows the eligibility guidelines. No submissions will be accepted by mail or email. Writers will complete a series of forms and upload a minimum of their first 30 pages. Complete manuscripts are welcome. You can enter the competition at: www.authors.me/ya2015/
JUDGING: Judges are a group of distinguished industry professionals. Entries will be judged on the quality of the writing, originality of the story and the uniqueness of the characters. Winners are determined by two rounds of judging. In the first round, judges will narrow down the entries to a group of semi-finalists. In the second round, judges will meet in person or online to select the finalists and winners. No critical evaluation or commentary of your entry will be offered by the Judges.
PRIVACY: AUTHORS.me is all about the security of the writer’s work. No submissions will be made public. A writer can withdraw his or her submission and uploads at any time. If a submission is withdrawn prior to January 31, 2016, the writer becomes disqualified from winning.
