$100/$25 plus publication
The popular ZenGarden.club contests continue with a new flower prompt each month. Hone your writing skills by writing a story of 350 words or less, inspired by our artistic, beautiful prompts. We believe that writing and reading bring comfort and community during these difficult, often isolated times. Our members seem to agree. One of our members from Ireland writes: “I adore your website – my piece of heaven for an hour.”
Our prompt this month is Honeysuckle.
Honeysuckle, also known as woodbine, is known for its tenacity and its fragrance. If you’ve ever sipped it or smelled it, you know it is an unforgettable flower! Shakespeare wrote about it. The wonderful British humorist P.G. Wodehouse wrote about it. Fats Waller even wrote a song about it! Now it’s your turn.
Be inspired by over 400 shortlisted stories from the past eighteen months of contests. Visit our Winners’ Pages. Create your own masterpiece, inspired by the beautiful prompt. You’ll be in good company on ZenGarden.club, where we are writing a better world, one flower at a time.
Our judge for this contest will be Dr. Regina Higgins, a writer and editor with more than thirty years of experience working with writers, publishers, universities, and nonprofits. She will pick the Grand Prize winner and Finalists. She will also provide commentary on stories which receive Finalist Honors. This commentary has been very helpful to all our writers, and is one of the special features of our club. There will be a public voting component to select three other winners, so there are two paths to winning!
Prizes include: $100 for Grand Prize, $25 for Public Voting 1st place, and a variety of publication venues. All shortlisted stories will be published on line, and will be eligible for inclusion in our series of Kindle books. Top winners get their own permanent Winners Page, which features all their winning stories, past, present and future.
Join our club, and become part of a talented, creative community of great writers!
