Perhaps you’d rather provide an experience rather than an object. Why not treat the writers in your life to a few sessions with a respected writing coach or manuscript consultant? Or surprise them with admission to an upcoming workshop or writing conference, or book a few hotel rooms for a DIY book tour? Obviously, do research to ensure the person or event you’re considering is reputable, professional, and well-reviewed, and don’t forget to consider logistics before you buy: If your writer hates talking on the phone, sessions with a coach who only does phone consultations aren’t likely to be well received.
You could also surprise writers with their own personal domain name to build a professional website, or present them with an Audible or Kindle Unlimited subscription so they can stay up-to-date in their preferred genre. And of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t suggest a gift subscription to The Writer as a perfect stocking stuffer or last-minute present this holiday season.
