Take a line from your favorite song and incorporate it into a short story. Let the song’s style set the rhythm of your narrative. Dance to the song or sing it out loud (and with feeling) to get a sense of its spirit and rhythm.
Can’t pick a favorite? Try these:
“Every time when I look in the mirror.”
– Aerosmith, Dream On
“I know they say you can’t go home again.”
– Miranda Lambert, The House That Built Me
“The road leads back to you.”
– Ray Charles, Georgia On My Mind
“And your friends, baby/They treat you like a guest.”
– Jefferson Airplane, Somebody To Love
“I never sleep, wild like Los Angeles.”
– Pitbull, International Love
