Tennessee Williams’ plays often take place in summertime, when the sweltering Southern heat helps drive characters to their breaking points. How would a brutal heat wave (and no air conditioning) affect the characters in your novel, especially if they were all under one roof?
For an extra challenge, take the heat wave scene you just wrote and rewrite it with different weather conditions: What new stakes would a hurricane bring to the story? How would the characters’ actions change if they were snowed in with a blizzard?
