writing prompt vocabulary - photo by Michael Coghlan via flickrSelect a piece of work  from your archives and read it through, paying close attention to the vocabulary. Note any words that you use repeatedly and substitute them for something new. Punch up the wording throughout the piece to elevate the level of the writing while still being mindful of the overall tone. Having an expansive vocabulary is an important part of being a writer, and demonstrating those skills will help keep your story interesting, and may even help readers learn a word or two.
